I have a masters degree in Bioinformatics from Manipal University India. I am involved in the project on the comparative genomics of Broad Host Range plasmids. I am working on isolation of plasmid DNA and DNA sequence analysis. Using specifc software I annotate plasmid sequences obtained from the Joint Genome Institute. I try to identify the backbone and accessory genes, mobile elements and other characteristic features. Comparative analysis will give information about phylogenetic relatedness of these BHR plasmids and their role in bacterial evolution and in the rapid adaptation of bacterial communities to environmental changes.
