…Stacey Poler, Top Lab Alum - Former Scientific Aide
I began working in the lab of Dr. Top in May of 2002, after taking a break from my studies as a Master’s student at the University of Idaho. The first priority of my job was to establish our lab. I began with a vacant room and after a few months we had a fully functioning lab. Then my work focused on providing technical support for the graduate students and post doc in the lab. I worked primarily on the Plasmid Evolution project. I also spent a large amount of time maintaining laboratory organization, which included making stocks, maintaining inventories, ordering, equipment maintenance, and other basic laboratory needs. In the summer of 2006 I decided to switch gears and take an administrative position in the Department of Mathematics. For about six months I still helped the Top-lab a few hours a week to guarantee a smooth transition.
