Announcements (and Hints)

bullet My policy on missing classes and classwork: I assume that everyone is an adult and is responsible for their own actions. If you cannot make class, you should read the book, read the webpage, and see me (or send me email) if you have questions. Late or missed classwork cannot be made up, but the grading system permits you to miss an item or two without hurting your final grade. If you are going to miss several classes, then we should talk. Remember, the objective of a college education is to learn the material. You are responsible for learning the material, I am responsible for teaching it.
bullet To copy text from netscape into pine, do the following
  1. Open the Netscape window
  2. Connect to the nest, and log in (enter userid and password)
  3. Click on the Nescape window anywhere (to bring it to the top)
  4. Go to wherever the text is you want to copy
  5. Click with the left mouse button to highlight the text
  6. Click and pull down the Edit menu (at the top)
  7. Click on Copy
  8. Click on the unix window anywhere (to put it on top)
  9. Go into pine and start composing your message
  10. Move to where you want to insert the text
  11. Click and pull down the Edit menu (at the top of this window)
  12. Click on Paste

Try it. It's easier to do than to describe.

Final examination

The final examination will be December 16 (Monday) 1:00-3:00pm in JEB 321.
